Even more than just an after-thought…

About

Right, where to start? You’ve probably already figured out my name is Phil Stringfellow. And no, I’m not related. Or have his same taste in leopard-skin thongs. Instead, I was born and bred some little piece of land called the Wirral where I mostly foraged for nuts and barley on Bidston Hill and played peek-a-boo with squirrels. After being raised on dodgy 80′s music, and becoming addicted to Bombay Bad Boy Pot Noodles, I found the internet and voilà! The web designer in me was born.

Starting off learning HTML the old-fashioned way (stealing other people’s code) I made websites of things I liked: My Little Pony, Barbie and The Smurfs. After being abducted by the Westborough Baptist Church, where I learnt the dark art of graphic design, I returned to the warm bosom of web design after negotiating my release with a potato gun and several out of date sesame seeds. Realising I had a lot of catching up to do, I learned modern web design the hard way, learning XHTML, CSS and jQuery/PHP integration. Taught by penguins.

I am inspired largely by other designers who work to not only provide a unique service, but also to make the web itself a more beautiful place to see, including the likes of John O’Nolan, Andy Clarke and Jonno Riekwel. Away from teh interwebs, my two children provide a constant source of inspiration, sick-stained clothes and laughs!

About ps.blog

The main reason I decided to run a blog was simply because I needed an outlet for my designs and ideas. Another reason was to showcase great design and tutorials from across the internet, and in turn, the blog has become more of a personal outlet, featuring the odd rant, giveaways and design-centered inspiration.  Also, I wanted to make a blog where I would gain knowledge of WordPress and PHP thus increasing my skills in web design, which has proven tremendously helpful over the last 2 years.

With v4, ps.blog now fits perfectly in with the theme set by the main site, but is fully responsive from HD desktops, down to iPhone level, using the Yoko theme as the base.
